The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification is designed for those IT professionals who work in the field of database management and wish to excel in it. Upon the completion of this training program the candidate can successfully design, administer and implement Microsoft SQL Server 2000 databases. The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential allows an individual to demonstrate his expertise required to perform various job roles, such as database administrator, database analyst, and database developer.
Candidates who wish to pursue this course should have at least one year of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.
At least one year of experience working with SQL Server is a prerequisite for obtaining MCDBA.

To get certified for Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential, the student must pass three core exams and one elective exam:

• One Microsoft SQL Server Administration exam
• One SQL Server Design exam
• One Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Windows Server 2003 exam
• One elective exam

The exam for MCDBA 2003 certification retired on 31st March, 2009. Therefore,you are advised to take MCITP: Database Administrator or MCTS: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance certification .
